On September 22, 2021, Tsinghua University and China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) jointly established the Tsinghua University-China Three Gorges Corporation Joint Research Center for Climate Governance Mechanism and Green Low-carbon Transformation Strategy (shortened to Tsinghua-CTG Joint Center for Climate Governance and Low-carbon Transformation, or JCGLT).

CHEN Xu, Secretary of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee, JIANG Shengyao, Executive Vice Secretary of the Committee, LEI Mingshan, Board Chair of CTG, and ZHANG Dingming, Vice President of CTG attended the ceremony. FANG Hongwei, Director of the Research and Development Affairs Office of Tsinghua University presided over the ceremony.

Witnessed by leaders from both sides, CHEN Xu and LEI Mingshan unveiled the nameplate of JCGLT.

JCGLT is a university-level unincorporated research institution, operated under the administration of the Laboratory of Low-carbon Energy of Tsinghua University. The Center carries out a series of comprehensive research and analysis around China’s "carbon peak and carbon neutrality" target, and puts forward policy recommendations from the global, national, regional, industry, and enterprise perspectives.

Research projects mainly cover six directions: Global climate governance, China's regional green low-carbon transition, Construction of the national carbon market, Low-carbon transition of China's power system, Clean energy technology innovation, Development of green finance.
