Beijing 2022 Releases Low-carbon Management Pre-Games Report showcasing a carbon-neutral Games

The Beijing Organising Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (Beijing 2022) published the "Low-carbon Management Pre-Games Report of the Beijing 2022 Games" on January 28( The link https://www.beijing2022.cn/wog.htm?cmsid=20220128013796). The report summarises the progress of Beijing 2022's carbon management and focuses on the carbon footprinting methodology, baseline projections, revised estimations and carbon compensation projects. According to our estimation, the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 is expected to be carbon neutral.

Behind this report are a group of people, who have been deeply involved in the low-carbon management research work of the Beijing Organising Committee for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, and who have helped make the Beijing Winter Olympics carbon-neutral in advance. They are a team from the Institute of Energy, Environment and Economics of Tsinghua University(short for 3E).

At the end of 2018, Professor He Jiankun and Associate Researcher Zhou Jian from 3E were invited to participate in the Beijing 2022 Sustainability Advisory Committee, serving as the director of the Committee and the leader of the Carbon Management Working Group respectively.

For years, researchers Zhou Jian, Gu Alun and Zhou Lingling of 3E have given full play to their professional advantages to help the Beijing 2022 Games be carbon neutral.
